Dr. Bill Uchegbue
Dr. Bill Uchegbue is from a Christian home of Chief & Mrs Dennis Nnolum Uchegbue, a native of Achi in Oji River LGA. He was born a catholic and loved to be a priest; (catholic reverend father) but eventually could not make the vocation due to what he describes today as unnecessary distractions. His parents that desired priesthood with great passion weren’t happy when he derailed from attaining their dream.
He grew up to cherish everything about Catholicism and its clergy nevertheless. This admiration provoked and stimulated inartificial relationship with catholic priests whom he confide, being an ardent catholic. Having lost the channel to priesthood, the thought re-emerged at age 27, after his university education to be specific. He wanted to be a monk-priest after many years of adulthood and secular life. This conviction took me to Awhum monastery, around the 9th mile Ngwo where he met a monk called Titus from Aguata in Anambra state. They became friends and he was visiting him regularly.
He has always believed in the principles of good life which is fundamentally working hard. Thus, rejects any form of easy method to living well. Paradoxically, he sees Nigerian society as a place where idleness and mediocrity is glorified hence his emotional critiques of Nigerian state and its foundation which groomed all manner of retrogressions; viz: unproductiveness, ethnic cleansing project, and state sponsored terrorism. He believes in God the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit.
