Mr. Okechukwu Chukwuemeka


Mr. Okechukwu Chukwuemeka, native of Ububa Umuaga Umuchinekegoziri community in Udi local government area of Enugu State of Nigeria, is married with three children. He holds a M.Sc. (Development Studies), PGD (Psychology), a B.Sc. (Management) and completing a Ph.D work in Development Studies. His research interest is on the interplay of worldviews, attitudes, thought patterns and cultural factors, their effect on personal risk attitudes and behaviours, group dynamics and resulting impact on the larger society – attitude to entrepreneurship and their patterns, rates and levels of socio-economic development.

Okechukwu has had an enriching work background in volunteering, banking, marketing, management, salesmanship, NGO management and consulting spanning in excess of three decades. Recently, he served the Federal Government of Nigeria as a UNDP-supported lead consultant that oversaw the implementation of the MDGs programmes at the local government level in the South East Nigeria consisting of the five states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. This position, Zonal Technical Officer, South East, was domiciled in the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Millennium Development Goals.

Okechukwu Chukwuemeka is currently the Executive Director, Institute of Growth and Development, IGD, Enugu, a non-governmental organization which interest is providing research-based evidence for public policy in such thematic areas as entrepreneurship development, community administration; women and youth development; governance; public finance management; education; and health. He is also a fellow of the Development Strategy Centre, DSC, Nigeria domiciled in Enugu.

Okechukwu Chukwuemeka is totally committed to the pursuit of regional autonomy along ethnic lines as a prelude to Nigeria’s national greatness. Okechukwu currently volunteers as the Membership Secretary, Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF as well as its ADF Enugu Chapter Secretary. He is born again, a deacon in the Living Faith Church and recently served as the National Coordinator of Umuaga Umuchinekegoziri Born Again Christian Association.

Okechukwu has many competences and skills including in computing and information technology, writing, public speaking, administration, organization, and many others. Hobbies include thinking, strategizing, reading, mentoring, writing, and listening to music.

  • Entrepreneurial mindskills – the kind of mind skill set that promotes entrepreneurship in individuals, groups and societies.
